The goal of the sister cities program is to learn about different cultures. The underlying idea is that our countries will come more closely together if we understand each other better. It is hoped that through understanding and mutual respect we will be less likely to repeat the mistakes that led to World War II.
The work of FWSCI can most easily be measured by the number of people who travel each year between our cities. Certainly, the more exchanges that we facilitate the more successful our program. Over the years there have been numerous student exchanges between Fort Wayne and Gera, as well as Plock, while scores of students have traveled between our city and Takaoka, supported in part by the Koshimae Foundation. The Chapman Fund, generously funded by Howard and Betsy, will stimulate exchanges for years to come and support the essential ideals of our program. You can find the application here |
